Leroy Oliver has passed away. Leroy was one of the original people to build the now Desert Thunder Raceway back in the early 80s. I always loved talking with him at the track and loved seeing him enjoy watching Gary and all the rest of us race. He was a truly wonderful man and inspiration to many who had the fortune to know him. He will be missed by all of us. Viewing will be thursday from 6 pm to 8 pm at fausetts mortuary and the funeral will be at the Spring Glen LDS church at 2 pm friday.
Thanks Harvey, for providing a place that myself and Gary could race and Grandma and Grandpa could come and watch. It would make my day when I could look in the stands and see LeRoy wearing the yellow gettin dirty hat that Tire King provided, and Gary's blue shirt with the camaro on it. That was a lot of fun out there. Even though gramps would always tell Chandler to say "my dad hit the wall".
I am also happy to see something that LeRoy helped build is still being maintained today and I am glad to have been part of Desert Thunder Raceway.
Thanks David Adair
P.S. if anybody would like write something to the Oliver Family go to fausettmortuary.com

Thank all of you so much for your sympathy at this difficult time. It's been great having all of you at the track, you're all like extended family. I really appreciate your concern. It's going to be hard not having him at the track this year, but he'll be there in spirit. I remember when I wanted to start racing in 1980, he said don't bring anything to do with racing into my yard. He went on vacation and we put the car in his garage and didn't quite get it finished before he came back. He said we could finish it before we had to get it out of there. We blew the engine the first night out and he helped rebuild the engine...in his garage, and he was right there in the pits or in the garage helping with everything from then on. When he got to the point where he couldn't help anymore, he made sure he was there telling us (Davie and I) what needed to be done and how to do it.
Thanks to everyone for everything,
Gary Oliver
